How much will be covered under your current insurer depends a lot on the services required and your current level of coverage. In general, however, Meritain Health does cover a wide range of substance abuse and mental health treatments. These include outpatient services such as counseling as well as partial hospitalization and residential rehab. Depending on your circumstances, certain medications also may be included.

Inpatient or Residential Treatment
Inpatient or Residential rehab is an intensive full-time setting where individuals live in a community offering 24/7 care and supervision. Sometimes this includes medical detox if necessary.  Individual and group counseling, education about addiction and recovery, life skills, and other therapeutic modalities are used to assist patients. Treatment is tailored to individual needs and provides an excellent environment to address any co-occurring mental health conditions.

Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)
Partial Hospitalization Programs, or PHP, offer a high level of structured care, providing therapy and medical monitoring similar to residential treatment centers but on a part-time basis.  Generally lasting for 6 hours a day, 5 days per week, this type of treatment is ideal for those transitioning from inpatient or residential care.  PHP provides individuals who already have a stable living environment with the intensive support they need.

Intensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Treatment for substance use and mental health is a structured program designed to support individuals who are dealing with addiction or alcoholism, but do not require the 24/7 care offered by residential or inpatient treatment. This level of care includes individual and group therapy, educational workshops, and skill-building. Individuals also typically work with medical staff to determine if they need medication.
