About Maggie Welch
Maggie Welch is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Vanguard, where she supports clients and families navigating addiction, mental health challenges, and the recovery process. Her path to this work is deeply personal. Growing up surrounded by mental health struggles and addiction within her own family gave Maggie a meaningful understanding of the impact these challenges can have, as well as a deep appreciation for the power of healing. Her work with stigmatized populations continues to strengthen her belief in what is possible when people are met with compassion, dignity, and support.
Maggie’s approach to recovery is rooted in helping clients reconnect with the light they already carry within themselves. She believes that by understanding why we make the choices we do, and by recognizing that many past choices were made with the knowledge and resources available at the time, clients can begin to release shame and create a new path forward. Her work emphasizes greater freedom, self-awareness, and the opportunity to build a life grounded in healing and possibility.
Maggie is especially passionate about helping clients access greater inner peace through skills such as gratitude, forgiveness, emotional intelligence, and perseverance. She views each challenge within treatment as an opportunity for growth. By learning to face difficulties in sobriety, clients can build momentum, resilience, and confidence in their ability to experience life without needing to numb or alter their emotions through substance use.
One of Maggie’s greatest strengths is the genuine compassion she brings to her work. She believes Vanguard’s team sees each client not as a list of diagnoses, but as a whole person who is trying to create a better life. Her goal is to help clients and families feel safe enough to be honest with themselves and to understand that healing is not about judgment; it is about learning, growing, and taking one small step at a time toward new possibilities.
Outside of work, Maggie enjoys spending time outdoors and being with her family, including her four-legged child.
